Esther from Marieesbella: Fashion On A Budget and I have decided to do a blogger collaboration called Mommy & Me, where we style outfits for certain occasions with our daughters. When she told me the idea, I was so excited to jump on board. She and I are not only fellow shoe lovers, but we both also love bargain shopping. For this Easter holiday, we wanted to share with you a couple of looks that we’ve styled, one for the Easter egg hunt and the other for church. Aren’t her daughters just so adorable? Gorgeous girls!
Mommy & Me: Egg Hunt Edition
For the Easter egg hunt lookbook, Mia and I decided to go with a pastel color palette. When I think Easter, I always think of the lighter colored M&Ms that are released when it comes to the color scheme.
As soon as I saw Mia’s dress, it just clicked.
The dress was a great deal from Macy’s. I usually try to check out stores like Macy’s or Marshalls when it comes to her clothes. You can always find high quality dresses for a cheaper price. When I searched this dress online, it’s still full price, but if you go to your local Macy’s, it’s marked down 50%! When it comes to shopping for the little one, I try not to pay full price because she outgrows her clothes too fast!
The shoes were a bit of a splurge at full price, but with Toms, you’re also contributing to getting another baby somewhere in the world the same pair of shoes. Mia’s starting off her contributions young!
To avoid being too casual (it is a celebration, after all), I decided to go with my Shoedazzle (“Caragh”) wedges. It gives me the perfect height yet it’s still comfortable, especially since I carry her wherever she wants to go. I wore jeans so that it’s easier for me to bend down & squat for activities (like an actual Easter egg hunt with Mia) without having to worry about “accidentally showing off something.”
The cardigan just gives me enough warmth for when it gets cooler at night. During the day, I just have to take it off, and it’s lightweight enough that I can leave it in my purse.
Mommy & Me: Church Edition
For the church edition, we decided to go with a spring trend: florals.
Easter is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s a celebration and spring lilies represent the purity of Jesus. I usually associate flowers and how it blossoms as rebirth — to rise from winter.
There were actually so many dresses to choose from, but this just happened to be my favorite. I think it must have been the purple flowers that sold me. The dress was 40% off when we bought it, which goes back to my “never buy anything full price” rule for my growing princess.
The shoes were a great find from Marshall’s because it was the last pair and in her size.
Although our floral dresses have different colors, I decided to have our shoes match with another great trend — metallics. I absolutely adore these heels. They were a great find! I had been eyeing this pair online, and I never really bought it. Something was always stopping me from clicking “check out.”
When I saw the pair at Burlington’s, there was only one size left, and it was a whole size bigger than my usual. I decided to just try it to see how big it was going to be. I could always get insoles, if anything. To my surprise, it was a perfect fit! I needed more room for my toes because of the style of the the shoe.
I guess that’s why I never ordered online. A part of me knew that my usual size wouldn’t fit, and it just saved me from all the hassle of having to return the shoe in a game of trial & error.
I hope you enjoyed this collaboration post. To see Esther’s outfit details with her daughters, check out her site, Fashion On A Budget, and check back in the future for more Mommy & Me lookbooks!
From Trinnah: Sorry again with the pictures. I just am posting these based on the assumption that sooner or later our images will be uploaded. Having a lot of trouble! :/
